Competition, Training and Dan Grading in Scotland - (1st - 2nd Oct)
On the 1st and 2nd of October students from Luton JKA dojo travelled up to Glasgow to participate in the KWF training course and National Karate Championships.
On Saturday students trained with the GB KWF instructors, which was then followed by Dan gradings.
After disappointment in The Culford camp in July this year, both Mark Slattery (16) and Liam Mills (11) showed their off technical abilities once again which incorporated Basics, Jyu Ippon Kumite and Kata to the KWF technical panel which included Sensei Sidoli (7th Dan KWF), Sensei Lewis (7th Dan KWF), and Sensei McCusker (6th Dan KWF). After a nail biting wait, both students were awarded their Shodan. Congratulations two very well deserved Shodans!!!!!!!
On the 2nd of October the team prepared themselves for the Scottish National Karate Championships.
After Mark and Liam’s success the day before, they joined up with their fellow team members to put in an all round excellent performance. Liam Mills took home bronze for kata and Darren Scott bronze for Kumite. Team Kata represented by Darren Scott, Channing Smart and Sabrina Collins also took home silver.
The most outstanding performance for Luton on the day was Jacob Croke. Jacob fought against many national competitors, but this didn’t stop him, instead it made him more determined and he took home Gold in the 13 – 15 year old Kumite.
Well done to all Luton competitors, you did yourselves and the dojo proud.
