JKL Gold in Nottingham

Robin Hood himself would have been proud to have seen the band of JKL fighters bag a booty of gold, sliver and bronze in Nottingham recently at the JKS Open Championships.
Students from the Hightown based karate club travelled northwards to compete against clubs from outside their normal KWF association.
The youngsters, dressed in modern day white rather than green, faced a monumental challenge of competing in unfamiliar territory and within different guidelines, yet still managed to stand out above the standard of the other competitors.
Their medal haul consisted of 3 gold, 4 silver and a bronze with most success occurring in the kumite discipline, where Ryan Parkins took first place and Jamie Pepper second. Charlie Pepper won his division and Liam Mills took the second place, and along with Adem Hodzic, the trio also won second place in their team kumite section.
In the kata discipline, Mills bagged second pace with Ajay Ghela taking the third place. They both rounded off the day by taking first place with C. Pepper in their team kata division.
JKL Technical Director, Shihan Fred Daniels said; “The strength and technical excellence of the JKL students was clearly evident, and was commented on by many people watching the event”.
